No longer The Brasserie by Philippe Mouchel

Last night (New Years Eve) doing our best to avoid large crowds for the fireworks, we ventured on our way to The Brasserie at Crown,  a beautiful French restaurant that i have been dying to try.

@ 210 per person pre paid ex. drink orders on the night was a pretty hefty price for dinner i must admit BUT i was amazingly shocked to see, how so much effort was made when we walked through the white hall leading to the reception.
It was a 'sailor theme' or so comprising with a wooden ship on each table, along with sailor hats and my very own chic white sunglasses and scarf compliments to the dinner.

Our dinner was a 5 course meal starting off with the...
Amuse
Brioche a tete with foie gras

Entree
Tartar of ocean trout with sauce gribiche and herb salad

Main
Roasted wagyu beef tenderloin, ox cheek croquette, sauce bordelaise

Or
Barramundi with, crab crushed potato, confit tomato, Moet and caviar beurre blanc

Sorbet
Pink champagne

Cheese
Blue cheese bavaroise with candied apple compote

Dessert
Feuillantine of cinnamon mousse with steamed cherries

No pictures unfortunately, but i will have some next time =]

When it hit 8o' clock i was also loving the French Jazz band that was playing for the rest of the night, sipping my champagne away felt like a dream however soon shattered when our waiter told us the brasserie is soon to be no longer! A little bit hush hush i think after all Philippe Mouchel the original chef just opened his own restaurant called Pm24 on Russel. Currently the head chef of Brasserie is Josh Emett who left Maze by Gordon Ramsey.

Despite it all overall it was a lovely night, one of the most higher end restaurants we have ever tried, it did not neglect the simple pleasures with a delightful French touch. Service was amazing with chatty yet non intruding waiters. I couldn't help but say yum to everything we had, i especially loved the Blue Cheese Bavaroise, it's not for everyone but my partner in crime loved his Wagyu Tenderloin perfectly cooked i do not think he can ever go back to anything else. I guess It was the expected high standards, especially for a New years eve but still blown away.

New Years Resolution: Eat here for lunch... soon!
43 AUD for 2 courses
48 AUD for 3 courses
inc. side dishes
A total steal for fine dining especially seeing michelle chin's blog i really wanted to try their famous escargots (which wasn't available since we had dinner sets).

Au Revoir Brasserie... i will see you soon
From friends apartment, where did you see the fireworks at?
A New Year and a new start to 2011. Here we come! Happy New Year Everyone.
